Muxtape for You
Once upon a time, I was a freshman in college, feeling the whole world laid out before me. I tried new things. I tried to be on the crew team. I only lasted three days, however, as the 4am practices were really stupid. I tried my hand at indie broadcasting, and lasted about three years. […]

Holy Barbara Trippin’
This weekend I took a little road trip to Santa Barbara with my favorite Australian, Sarita. So last night when I arrived at Westmont I surprised Trevor B. with large hugs and hoorays, as he did not know I was coming. It was exceedingly great, and the second time his lady Darrelle had managed to […]

Stepping Stones
I may never be able to define what exactly is my "life ministry," though people are particularly into these sort of bizarre titles. If you ask me, those stepping stones in the canyon creek are words enough. I want to help inspire confidence in hesitant feet, and urge them to laugh and keep going when our shoes get soaked in the water.

Again! I Will Change Your Name, You Shall No Longer Be Called
I think I am being given a new name, again. Apparently God really digs using Apples as instruments of nomenclature. I mean, this is really getting good. I mentioned this happening before on my new iMac desktop, with the mysterious “Joy” thing. Now it has happened again, on my newly-fixed iBook named Pearl. When I […]

In New Cities
In a new city, I do not do anything very touristy, because that bores me. I sit with friends and drink coffee. I like it better that way. Friday night we heard some local music at a club in the Mission. The band was smart to have an upright bass, and they call themselves The […]

Found
This is just to say, I found the big hilly city. Flying in over the water, it almost felt like I was flying into old Lisbon. I also found the hip coffeeshop, the miso-lentil soup, and the medium dark roast. Pearl the iBook found the lists of free wireless with the curious city names.

San Fran Break-Fast
Well, after about twelve weeks of my travel fast, I’m taking off for a weekend in San Francisco. I’ve never been to the fair city. I am excited. I’m also excited that the two books that I read ahead for classes happen to be the very two books in which ten pages of papers are […]

Leafy and Feeling Powerful!
I am turning over one of those new proverbial leafy things. It is the first week of the Spring quarter at Fuller. I am taking a full load of classes, while working 25-30 hours each week. And so, before classes even started, I talked myself into finishing almost two of the many books required for […]

You Oughta Know
I do realize that my Sunday streams have been halted for two weeks. Nevertheless, you ought to know: Yes, people are getting healed in grocery stores in America. Jesus is alive and well. And he likes doughnuts. Perhaps prayer fights crime better than McDuff? Even the police think so in Orlando. Oh dear! My family’s […]

Jesse Borden is Twenty-One!
Though others have properly celebrated him here, and in motherly ways here, I also wanted to add in my celebratory comments for Jesse’s 21st birthday. Jesse is a great younger brother. He runs after God in a big, hearty ways. His hugs are healing. And his manner is so calming. I met him in the […]

Strange birds, strings, and other things
Spring Break is a strange bird when yes, you get a break from classes but no, not a break from your many occupations. I have been a bit sour over this fact, this week. But I have tried to make the best of it. The love birds are nesting above the giant iron gate at […]

A Janela
It took me two quarters to learn that Fuller’s campus (unofficially) extends to The Zephyr, a coffeehouse about four miles east. At Zephyr they play excellent music on the speakers. The coffee is good. They have big, cushy chairs, and interesting art on the walls. And today I realized just how lovely are their windowsills. […]
