This weekend I hosted a tiny dinner party. It was the first time that I’ve done such a thing in quite awhile, and it made me very happy.

I really enjoy putting on my apron. (It is a very special one, you know.) It is a creative challenge to only use that which is in the cupboards and icebox, and yet make something that causes the guests to ask for seconds. I like challenges.

And. I really miss that old Portuguese kitchen in Estoril. A lot.

  1. I miss our dinner parties (and your creative cooking). And. I really miss that old Portuguese kitchen as well. : ) A lot.

Thought of you yesterday while I was driving from DC to Nashville!

  2. I have such fond memories of you in your apron in that kitchen in Estoril. I’ll never forget making lasagna with you and Jas for about 20+ people one night… what a blast. I’ve got some pictures somewhere… I’ll try to find them and send them to you.

What did you make for your dinner guests? Nelly’s famous homemade pizza?? mmm I miss that.

  3. i like la foto of the kitchen above. it makes me want to wear an apron and open a bottle of wine. i would have on a black dress and tall black heels. i was thinking the other evening that drinking wine at night during the holidays is romantic. other worldly.

I hope that you will be driving back to DC for baby Jesus’ day. I will be in that vicinity, then. Those 2E kitchen days are forever etched in my memory.

It makes me happy that you were able to spend some time with us in that place. To answer your recipe question, no, I did not make the (famous? famous) pizza. I did make a bow-tie pasta with shrimp, vegetables, and a white cream sauce. It was good. I had seconds.

    @ Olivia Carter
You are a smart lady. I hope you’ll put on that apron, heels, and pour some red wine.

    @ Lisa (too) far away
That is quite the superlative, coming from you. I like that.

    @ Melissa
    I hear it, too.
