This weekend I hosted a tiny dinner party. It was the first time that I’ve done such a thing in quite awhile, and it made me very happy.
I really enjoy putting on my apron. (It is a very special one, you know.) It is a creative challenge to only use that which is in the cupboards and icebox, and yet make something that causes the guests to ask for seconds. I like challenges.
And. I really miss that old Portuguese kitchen in Estoril. A lot.
I miss our dinner parties (and your creative cooking). And. I really miss that old Portuguese kitchen as well. : ) A lot.
Thought of you yesterday while I was driving from DC to Nashville!
I have such fond memories of you in your apron in that kitchen in Estoril. I’ll never forget making lasagna with you and Jas for about 20+ people one night… what a blast. I’ve got some pictures somewhere… I’ll try to find them and send them to you.
What did you make for your dinner guests? Nelly’s famous homemade pizza?? mmm I miss that.
i like la foto of the kitchen above. it makes me want to wear an apron and open a bottle of wine. i would have on a black dress and tall black heels. i was thinking the other evening that drinking wine at night during the holidays is romantic. other worldly.
That was my favorite kitchen in Portugal ๐
When I look at that picture, I hear Karin Berquist singing the song “Fool” in my head. ๐
@ Rachel
I hope that you will be driving back to DC for baby Jesus’ day. I will be in that vicinity, then. Those 2E kitchen days are forever etched in my memory.
@ Melissa
It makes me happy that you were able to spend some time with us in that place. To answer your recipe question, no, I did not make the (famous? famous) pizza. I did make a bow-tie pasta with shrimp, vegetables, and a white cream sauce. It was good. I had seconds.
@ Olivia Carter
You are a smart lady. I hope you’ll put on that apron, heels, and pour some red wine.
@ Lisa (too) far away
That is quite the superlative, coming from you. I like that.
@ Melissa
I hear it, too.
