  • In December, Drinking Horchata! – Recipe Experimentation [Part 1] I’m experimenting with a homemade horchata recipe here on the East coast, to bring a little East LA flavor to our open house on Sunday.  My recipe will include agave.  Who doesn’t love agave? If all goes well, I’ll use this same recipe for our New Years Eve party on Monday.  (Yes, you are invited.) […] Jenelle No responses December 29, 2012
  • 14/ I Remember When La Plata Was Almost Killed By A Tornado I loved that water-tower.  The category-4 tornado that cut through my hometown was scary.  I remember driving down from college in 2002 to find little La Plata looking like a total war zone. Jenelle 3 responses September 14, 2009

  • To Tell the Truth When I come home to my parents house, on some nights I stay up very late and I consume an entire box of Kraft Mac-n-Cheese. I did so tonight, in fact. And God saw it. And it was good. I’m not certain, but I think such things makes me feel as if I am somehow […] Jenelle 2 responses July 6, 2008
  • Uncovering Dinosaurs After flying the red-eye from LAX, I’m back in La Plata with the family again. Last night Ma, Dad, Anthony, and Zeppe the puppy stood outside on our street with me as we watched the fireworks. The outside air is thick with legendary Maryland humidity. Inside the air is thick with a joy of oh-good-we’re-all-together-again. […] Jenelle One response July 5, 2008
  • La La La La Plata, MD Well, after my coast-to-coast flight I was welcomed home to La Plata by a fluffy new member of the family: Zeppe the Bichon Frise. Like all D’Alesandros, Zeppe (American for “Giuseppe,” Italian for “Joseph”) is a most excellent hugger. Forget the snuggly ideals of “lap dog,” Zeppe is more like a “shoulder dog.” Mama Rose […] Jenelle One response May 2, 2008
  • Maryland, My Maryland I am headed back to Maryland tomorrow for a long weekend and a wedding. Hooray for some long hugs with my family. Oh Maryland, where this week some folks in College Park made 50,000 cupcakes to give away on Maryland Day. (Photo by Sabine01) Jenelle 2 responses April 30, 2008
