Tonight two dudes stole my nice Trek bike.  This bike is my only means of transport, and did I mention that it is very nice?  It is probably nicer than your mom’s car.  I ride it approximately 50 miles/week to get around, and it is very enjoyable.  I had locked it up near my school, allegedly secure with one of those thick U-locks that are really heavy to carry-but-you-do-it-anyway-cause-it-could-save-your-bike-from-a-cliche-thieving-and-all.

Here’s where the plot thickens.

JUST as thievie #1 and thievie #2 were snapping off my Kryptonite U-lock with giant metal clipper things, the Pasadena Police drive by and see it all happen.  Apparently thievie #1 runs away with said clippers…but they chase down thievie #2 who is riding away on my hot bike.

I love imagining thievie #2 trying to get his footsies in my weird shoe cages as he rides away, clumsily.

My urbanite vehicle was swiftly returned to me within 20 minutes of it being stolen, and thievie #2 was taken in on a felony charge.  The cops said that it is highly irregular that they are ever able to stop such crimes from happening.  I thanked Jesus aloud.  And then told the Pasadena policeman who stopped the thieving that he is my hero.

If I could only get a hold of the dorky crime scene photo of me with the returned orange and white road bike, I would insert it here.  I was pretty much grinning and thumbs-upping with my eyebrows, thinking about how much God loves me.

SCORE!  Jesus SAVES!

    1. I walked up to where bike used to be and told cop my bike was stolen and could identify it down to the brand of drivetrain and everything. I suppose someone could’ve watched it happen and impersonated me as owner, though. Hadn’t thought of that.

    Oh, Jenelle, great line.

Maybe I can see you in a couple of weekends? Take the train down or something?
