I think I am being given a new name, again. Apparently God really digs using Apples as instruments of nomenclature. I mean, this is really getting good.
I mentioned this happening before on my new iMac desktop, with the mysterious “Joy” thing. Now it has happened again, on my newly-fixed iBook named Pearl. When I type in my email address to send something to myself (a quick way to file-share over multiple computers), my name no longer shows up as “Jenelle,” it shows up as “Embracing Freedom.” My address book has found a new name for my digital business card. I like it.
I think I need a xylophone, someone with smart piano fingers, clapping hands, and lots of voices. I want to re-write the music from this old song from the 1980’s Young Life songbook, because when these funny things happen this is the song I hear in my pitter-patter heart:
I will change your name
You shall no longer be called
Wounded, outcast
Lonely or afraidI will change your name
Your new name shall be
Confidence, joyfulness
Overcoming one
Faithfulness, friend of God
One who seeks my face(DJ Butler, copyright 1987,
Mercy Publishing)
Dear Embracing Freedom
I love that! How fun to have your name changed. I want to hear the music you come up with. And on another note…in your last blog you said you would love a community of rule that helped you live it out, well sister something in that statement made my heart leap. I want it too. But what does it look like and how do you do it? Searching for the deep life with you.
You and Spence might want to read Andy’s book
Punk Monk: New Monasticism and the Ancient Art of Breathing.
Spence,
I have an idea. How about God open up a big blue community house in Portugal, and then I’ll move in, and then we’ll all move to Italy where we’re all supposed to end up ANYWAY, and do it all again!
That’s how I’m praying, anyway. 🙂
