Joy

My Eyes

My eyes see my family so I can hug them
tightly.

I hate when my eyes get wet and watery it feels
weird.

When I close my eyes to sleep at night
I start to think great thoughts.

I like how my eyes see my beautiful house!

My eyes are beautiful bear brown.

I recently learned that if I start my day by reading some poems and/or the Scriptures, I feel much more human.

This morning my friend John Hobbins posted these words his daughter Anna had once written.  Prior to seeing Anna’s poem I’d just read a few lines by Emily Dickinson.  Both Emily and Anna’s words moved me in different, but strikingly similar ways.

John writes at Ancient Hebrew Poetry, and I’ve been reading him for about 5 years.  His work is clear, scholarly, and rich.  It is a rare thing to find scholarly writing that is both clear and rich.  You should read him if you have any interest in understanding the Hebrew scriptures better.  Start here.
