I may have my roots set deep in southern Italy, but it makes me happy to see old Genovese footprints in part of this ancient city. (Did you know that Istanbul is one of my favorites?)
This photo (that I did not take) is from Beyoğlu, an area on the European side of Istanbul. In the 13th-14th centuries Cité de Péra was filled with merchants and families from Genova.
Genova is one of my dream-cities for my 30 cities in my 30th year Tour. It’s doubtful I’ll make it there, but that’s not the point. The dreaming is just as much a part of it.
