Sweet procrastination candy! FreeRice, people! Now you can work out your vocabulary-biceps while simultaneously helping fight World Hunger. For every word you choose correctly, the corporate folk donate 10 grains of rice through the U.N. food programme.
This is an addictive little site. Especially if you oddly enjoyed the vocabulary exercises during your SAT days. The words get more difficult if you keep getting correct answers. The highest I could reach was level 41. But I donated 800 grains of rice. I’m sure you can beat me. Get over there, you.
I’m home safe in Pasadena. Still scratching my head about those live crickets, though.

in fact, Cari &Trevor ought to be heading out that way this Sunday, but not I.
Nelly! good stories. thanks for talking last night. so- I forgot to ask- have you heard of Rick Watts? He’s an Aussie, I think he teaches as Regent? (but possibly in Melbourne?)… google him, I guess…
anyway, my friend Amanda d’Bellingham sent me a CD of a teaching of his called “De-Centering Sexuality” (Amanda and I talked a lot about sexual and gender identity this summer)…
And I listened to it running yesterday (thinking I’d make it like 10 minutes in and it’d be silly), but it was actually really thoughtful and thought-provoking (and a lot of his basic teaching before he went into sexuality aligned a lot with what I’m reading in Newbigin for Doctrine).
So. May I send you the CD and receive your thoughts?
sorry this is so long:p heart you!
Nelly, I’m totally doing this today. 🙂 I like word exercises AND procrastination – and donating rice is an added bonus!
Gypsy-bella, I’ve never heard of Rick Watts, but Newbigin is one of my favorite theologizers. I would be honored to receive the CD. I might not get to listen to it for a little while, because I’m swamped with work, but still. Bless you.
this was so hard. i couldn’t get past level 30. but i did donate 510 grains of rice. ha. thanks for the boredom activity!
p.s. thanks for saying you were proud of me. those are words i rarely hear, and yesterday i needed them. so thanks.
I finally figured out how to receive return comments:) Thanks… it’ll come soon, take as long as you need…
Yes, Trevor and I need to somehow get south on Sunday… but we don’t have a way at the moment… will you pray we get there? I guess praying about a concert is kind of silly…
So, I did about 110 grains until I stopped.
Also, I think it was just I inquiring as to why it seems my heavenly Daddy hasn`t spent any quality play time with me. The father/son duo I spied at the park today seemed to be enjoying each other immensely.
I miss that.
